Brassica napus

Rape - Flowers from April to August. Rape is a crop which is grown for rapeseed oil. Crop fields ablaze with colour when in full bloom. A sight to behold. It often escapes and finds it's way on to verges, waste land and any arable soil. This one photographed at Carrick-on-Shannon Co. Leitrim. The field of rape is from Allestree in Derbyshire.
