Centaurium erythraea

Common Centaury - Flowers June to September. The tiny pink flowers will only open in bright sunshine. These pretty flowers are normally found near the sea and not so frequent inland. It is a member of the Gentian family and like most Gentians they tend to close up in the afternoon. I was lucky to see this one on the shoreline at Annagh Lake Co. Leitrim.
