Phlomis purpurea

Purple Phlomis - Flowers from April to June. An evergreen that can grow to six feet. A native perennial to Spain and Portugal. It prefers dry areas such as wasteland and hedgerows. It is in the mint family of wild flowers. I photographed these in the Praia Da Rocha area of Portugal flowering in April.
